Carol Concert 2007 “Saturday 16 December saw the first Herne Bay Carnival Association Christmas Songs and Carols event at the Central Bandstand.
Approximately 100 people attended the event to sing along with Members of Theatrecraft who were taking time out from their rehearsals from Beauty and the Beast, their 2007 pantomime offering at the Kings Hall in January.
Richard Bosworth provided the musical accompaniment, whilst Pip the Magic Clown undertook the role of Master of Ceromonies.
All the songs and carols were sponsored by local businesses and this with a collection held on the day will help boost valuable funds lost due to the wet summer Carnival.
Special effects created snow to fall during some of the songs which added to the Christmas feel, especially when Father Christmas made an appearance to accept a mince pie and carrot from Pip before handing out sweets to the children attending.
Old favourites such as White Christmas, Little Donkey, Hark the Herald Angel Sing and Good Christian Men Rejoice were though overshadowed by the children who ventured onto the stage to sing Away In A Manger.
Andy Birkett, Carnival Chairman would like to thank all those that made the event possible as it is hoped to add something similar to the Carnival events diary for next year. |
